Ministry for Widows
WINN (Widows Identifying a New Normal)
The WINN ministry is a fellowship of vibrant, active women of God who come together with a common bond to support, love and encourage one another. We warmly welcome all widows, regardless of their age or season of life. We offer a variety of activities throughout the year including luncheons, outings, prayer, and service projects.
The care of widows, a concern of the very heart of God, is a major theme in Scripture. James, the brother of Jesus, summarizes God’s compassion for the widow: “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” James 1:27 (NIV)
Christ Church at Grove Farm desires to be faithful to these directives found in Scripture to care for our widows, especially those who have no one else to provide care for them. Volunteer opportunities are available, especially to those who might be able to assist with minor home repairs, financial advice, meals, transportation, or other needs as they arise.
