Türkiye+SYRIA EARTHQUAKE RELIEF – Christ Church at Grove Farm

As many of you know, Türkiye (recent name change) and Syria were hit with a devastating earthquake this past Monday, February 6 and the death toll continues to rise.  At Christ Church at Grove Farm, we want to help in the name of Jesus, people who are hurting, especially in places where very few people know and follow Christ.

It may be surprising to know that Turkey was once a stronghold of Christianity but for a variety of reasons the Christian population dwindled. There are estimates that in 1960 there were only 10 believers of Christ in the whole country!

Since then, the church has slowly grown there. Today Turkey is a country of 85 million people with less than 200,000 Christians.

When  a disaster like this strikes, we look for opportunities to alleviate the suffering of those affected by giving our church family an accessible way to respond with compassion and hope.

We are partnering with World Vision in their relief efforts and we invite you to prayerfully consider supporting their emergency response financially. World Vision has mobilized rapid response teams  that are already helping those affected with supplies to fight the cold weather, emergency shelters, and access to medical facilities.

Please see below what about what World Vision is doing and how you can help

1 Corinthians 12:26–27 – If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

Here's how we can help:

1. WE CAN PRAY for:
  • The people  affected by the devastating earthquake that struck Syria and Turkey early this morning (February 6, 2023)
  • The distribution of lifesaving heat supplies to hospitals and shelters during a harsh winter
  • WV staff and volunteers and other emergency response teams doing search and rescue, ongoing needs assessments, and delivering crucial resources
  • Comfort and safety as aftershocks cause new safety risks and stress

Help us help World Vision’s relief efforts with your financial donation.
