The New Testament Canon

The foundation of our Christian belief is the 27 books of the New Testament. Yet many today are attempting to undermine our confidence in the Bible by questioning the origins of the New Testament, and their ideas have gained a widespread audience.

In this six-part Ligonier Ministries teaching series, Dr. Michael Kruger describes these contemporary challenges to Christian belief and explains why Christians cannot afford to allow these challenges to go unanswered.

How did the 27 books that make up our New Testament come about? How was it determined, out of all the writings about Jesus, which ones were Scripture? Why isn’t the Gospel of Thomas included with the Gospels written by Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John? Why 27 books and not 28 or 26?

Answers to these questions and more will be discussed in this new Adult Ed study starting on July 17th. Meeting in the Fellowship Hall from 10:15 – 11:00 AM. Discussion following the video presentation will be led by Caleb Falbo and Dick Jenkins.
