40 Days of Prayer – Christ Church at Grove Farm

40 Days of Prayer

25th Anniversary Prayer SERVICE

On Thursday, July 23, 2020, Christ Church at Grove Farm turns 25. We had a whole month-long celebration planned for our 25th anniversary, but because of the pandemic, we had to change our plans. However, we will still be having a 25th Anniversary Prayer Service on Thursday, July 23 at 7:00 pm on-site and in-person in the Sanctuary. We invite you to join Pastor Craig Gyergyo, along with Pastor John Guest as they lead us in praise and thanksgiving for what the Lord has done and what He will do in the life of our church.

Registration is not necessary.

Christ Church at Grove Farm 25th Anniversary 40 Days of Prayer

prayer Walking/ virtual Prayer Walking

“The effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” James 5:16

Over 25 years ago, before Christ Church at Grove Farm came into being, a group of people prayed. The founders of Christ Church looked outward – beyond themselves – to a city that needed Christ. Christ Church at Grove Farm started on July 23rd, 1995 and over the years God has touched thousands of lives through our church. At Christ Church, we are still a people of prayer. Over 25 years ago people prayed and Christ Church began. They weren’t in their building then – and we aren’t in our building now – but they still prayed and look at what God has done as a result of their prayers!!

Now as we prepare for the next 25 years we look outward again – beyond ourselves – to our communities, city, nation, and the world as we ask God to expand His Kingdom and use us. We will approach the date of our 25th Anniversary in prayer, prayer walking our communities.  We are setting aside June 15th to July 25th for 40 Days of Prayer Walking/Virtual Prayer Walking. We will PRAY AS WE GO, knowing that the Presence of God in us goes with us. We are encouraging people to be creative and do this in a way that suits them. We are encouraging every ministry and member of our church to get involved in some way!

There are many ways to participate:

-Prayer Walk – pray as you walk around your neighborhood, town or city

-Prayer Drive and Stop – drive to a location (s) and stop to pray

-Prayer “Virtual Walk” – pray from home, you may pull up various streets or locations on your computer for a “virtual walk”

How you choose to participate is up to you. But we are the body of Christ and every single member of Christ Church matters. Your prayers matter and we are asking you to pray!

What is Prayer Walking?

Prayer Walking is just what it sounds like – praying to God while walking around. Instead of closing our eyes and bowing our heads, we keep our eyes open to the needs we see around us and bow our hearts to ask humbly for God to intervene.

You can prayer walk in small groups of two or three or you can prayer walk by yourself. As you walk and pray, be alert for opportunities and listen for promptings by God’s Spirit to pray for individuals and groups you meet along the way.

God’s Word says that we should “petition, pray, intercede and give thanksgiving for all people, and for all those in authority — that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”

Prayer Walking is a simple way to obey God’s command to pray for others. And it’s just what it sounds like – praying to God while walking around.
