What Beliefs Should Christians Look For in Candidates For Public Office?

By Richard Curtis

I am the Lord God Almighty, and I approved this message.

“… whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant…”  Matthew 20:26b

“And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”  Micah 6:8b

“Speak, for your servant is listening.” 1 Samuel 3:10b

“Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain.”  Psalm 119:36

“Your word O Lord, is eternal. It stands firm.”  Psalm 119:89

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart  and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him,  and he will make your paths straight.”  Proverbs 3:5-6

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you…”  Jeremiah 1:5

“An honest answer is like a kiss on the lips.”  Proverbs 24:26

‘Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”’  Isaiah 30:21

“Defend the cause of the weak and the fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and the oppressed.”  Psalm 82:3

“ And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”   Esther 4:14b

You are my servant. I have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you and I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41: 9-10 Lord, please bless our nation today and always. May your people turn to you again and walk the path you have lit for us through your Word. Psalm 119:105
