Our principal strategic partnership in the Pittsburgh region is with Urban Impact Foundation, a youth-oriented urban outreach ministry that pursues a holistic and Gospel-centered approach to the challenges facing youth growing up in the inner city neighborhoods that make up the North Side of Pittsburgh.

Rev. Dr. Ed Glover has been pastoring on the North Side of Pittsburgh for almost 30 years. Together with his wife Tammy, Ed founded Urban Impact Foundation in 1995 to help address the profound and unique challenges facing today’s urban communities, which Ed witnessed first-hand every day for over nine years as a resident of Pittsburgh’s North Side and a pastor at Allegheny Center Alliance Church. During this time, Rev. Glover recognized that the trials of children and families in urban communities could only be effectively addressed through holistic development of the mind, body, and spirit through Christ– one person, one family, one block at a time.

Our 20 years-and-counting relationship with UIF has allowed us to not only see, but actively engage in the mission field right outside our doors, as we join them in the work the Lord is doing in our city.

UIF supports a traditional missions model whereby urban missionaries (raising their own support) move themselves and their families to the North Side of Pittsburgh to become a part of the fabric of the community. Having a model whereby those who minister to inner city youth actually live among them has resulted in a greater impact for the Gospel than many other Christian organizations that reach ‘into’ the city from without. Our close relationship with Urban Impact Foundation is evidenced in a variety of ways.

We are honored to have Ed Glover as a valued member of the preaching team at Christ Church. Our busy Cafe’s profits go directly to UIF, and their yearly “Light the Night” extravaganza is a true partnership effort that actually kicks off our own Christmas season at Christ Church. Many of our lay leaders are significantly involved in serving in the athletic, performing arts or academic departments at UIF, and we are also committed to contributing to UIF with our financial gifts.

We know that the Lord has orchestrated and mutually blessed us with this unique and lasting partnership, and we look forward to new endeavors together as the Lord leads.
