Rev. Barry Mariana
Director of Pastoral Care
Barry is a busy man as he takes the lead in caring for Christ Church members in crisis, sickness or bereavement. Christ Church’s practice is for all clergy and laity to be ready and able to respond to a personal crisis of someone involved in their ministry area, but Barry is the one who makes sure that no one slips through the cracks. Our desire is to care for each other just as we would care for a member of our own family. To foster connectedness among our members, Barry also leads our Home Group ministry along with all other aspects of pastoral care.
So who is Barry? He’s the husband of Kathie and the father of five children. His studies include Geneva College, Trinity School for Ministry and Robert Morris College. He loves the outdoors, camping, fly fishing, and fly tying and breeds fresh water fish. His main source of daily news is MSNBC online, but don’t look for Barry on Facebook or Twitter.
Barry draws his daily inspiration from Scripture, the Holy Spirit, and My Utmost for his Highest, and from his wife who he says is his best friend ever.
Barry’s verse to live by is 2 Corinthians 1:3-5:
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.
