Liz Rankin
Parish Secretary
As Parish Secretary, Liz is the “go to” person for just about everything that has to be recorded, printed, mailed, or fixed, especially printers and copiers. She keeps the records of births, deaths, and marriages. She keeps the church calendar and makes sure we don’t have two meetings at the same time in the same room. She makes sure we have service sheets every week. She supervises the receptionists and the switchboard. In other words, she is often the calm at the center of the storm.
Liz has been married to Hank for 34 years and has two grown daughters. She graduated from Winchester Thurston, attended the University of Pittsburgh, and came to faith at the age of 23.
Asked if she is involved in a sport, Liz’s reply is “Ich, no!” However, Liz is a lover of beauty, in her home, in music, in story, in film, or in a painting, and this beauty is reflected in her #1 hobby of making unique jewelry.
Liz admits that her husband, Hank, influences her thinking, because he is the calmest person she has ever met. He has shown her by example that many things she thinks need fixing, will in fact work themselves out and that at times we all have to agree to disagree.
Liz credits her parents with teaching her many things, among them are: good phone manners, and the value of a sense of humor.
Liz says that her most convicting scripture of all time is 1 Corinthians 1:21 & 25: God was pleased, through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe ... The foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom.
