WHAT'S HAPPENING? JULY 1995.
Northern Exposure airs its last episode on July 26.
The Bosnian war is in full swing, and Bosnian Serbs march into Srebenica while Dutch peacekeepers depart.
Chicago, Milwaukee and dozens of other cities set all time record high temperatures. 3000 people die as the heat wave reaches its peak.
The Korean War Memorial is dedicated in Washington DC
The first “Toy Story” movie is released
OJ Simpson is found innocent
The Federal Building in Oklahoma City is bombed
A gallon of gas costs $1.09
The federal 55 mph speed limit is abolished
Major League baseball players go on strike
The US pulls out of Somalia
A small but determined group of Christians meet in the home of Terry and Judy Carson and form The New Church of Sewickley.
Many, many important and unimportant things happened in 1995, and many things have changed since then. Look at the price of gas! Wars have come and gone, and come again. OJ Simpson has been tried for different crimes. Toy Story has produced its third sequel. The Pirates are still on a losing streak. The Bosnian war has ended. But one thing has remained constant, and that is the blessing of God on the church that was once the New Church of Sewickley and is now Christ Church at Grove Farm.
On July 23 and 25 we will celebrate our 15th Anniversary, with a Friday night service and a Sunday afternoon festival. If you were here 15 years ago, or if you only arrived 15 minutes ago, we hope you will join us in thanking God for the miracle he has performed and continues to perform every day here at Christ Church – 15 years old this month!
