Jeremiah Orphan Ministry

One of the greatest challenges that a family faces in the region of Bunyoro-Kitara Diocese in Hoima, Uganda, E. Africa, where Encounter Uganda focuses it’s Mission, is the cost of educating their children. Most clergy in the Diocese have an average of 6 children of their own. Many are also caring for orphaned children adding financial burdens, which make educating these orphans an overwhelming challenge. The Jeremiah Orphan Ministry is founded and based on HOPE through education. We believe that through education there would be less exploitation of children, less crime due to poverty, less prostitution and fewer pregnancies in the young girls, and a reduction in the epidemic of HIV/AIDS. As more of the young people in Uganda are educated, they can lead their country out of the cycle of poverty and disease.

Sponsoring a child costs $40/month. A sponsor can correspond with his orphan, and each year the coordinator in the Diocese, Rev. Paddy Irumba, monitors the children’s progress, disburses the school fees, and corresponds with Christ Church on a daily or weekly basis. Every dollar paid by the sponsor goes directly to his sponsored orphan and is disbursed at the beginning of each school term. Payments and all donations go through Christ Church at Grove Farm. No administrative costs are deducted from the sponsor’s payments.

When a child is orphaned, he suffers the loss of his childhood, is forgotten and left behind. As each orphan is given the gift of HOPE through the compassion of a sponsor, his childhood can be restored, and he looks forward to a better future through education. This gift of hope, mercy, and compassion is a reflection of the love of God in an orphaned child. Will you save one child?

For I know the plans I have for you, …
Plans to prosper you and not to harm you …
Plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11
