SILVER RING THING

Sunday, March 26 at Youth Group: 6-8:30pm

The Silver Ring Thing is a ministry that defies the norms of culture and speaks honestly to teens about Relationships, Love, and Sex. Through a high-impact, concert-style event, Silver Ring Thing uses the Creative Arts to share the truth about Purity and Sex. It’s much more than just waiting for your wedding day; it’s a commitment to persevere, a pursuit of freedom that enables you to embrace healthy relationships free of confusion, brokenness, and pain. It is keeping your mind, body and spirit focused on Jesus and pursuing a life that honors him. It’s an inspiring message that promotes real and lasting change.

Our High School Ministry is hosting the Silver Ring Thing on Sunday, March 26. Although the public is invited to this event and tickets are on sale, any who normally attend our High School Youth Group are able to attend for free. The event takes place during normal Youth Group hours, so just show up at 6pm in the Student Center like you normally would for Youth Group. Doug will give you your ticket – and then we will all head upstairs for the event at 6:30pm.

Silver Ring Thing also teaches a separate Parent Session that will take place at the same time! This session informs parents about the real attitudes and behaviors of today's youth culture and how you can best support their child's commitment to purity. 87% of teens say it would be easier to postpone sexual activity and avoid teen pregnancy if they were able to have more open, honest conversations with their parents. Tickets for the Parent Session will be sold at the Main Entrance of the church the night of the event.

WHITE WATER ADVENTURE WEEKEND

Saturday, August 12 – Monday, August 14
Registrations Due: Sunday, May 21

ARE YOU READY FOR AN ADVENTURE! Our High School Ministry is bringing back WHITE WATER ADVENTURE WEEKEND for our Summer Trip this year from Saturday, August 12 - Monday, August 14. We will meet in the Student Center at 9am on Saturday to begin our Adventure. We will then carpool to Ohiopyle and the Laurel Highlands.

First, we will enjoy lunch at the Fort Necessity National Park where General George Washington fought in the French and Indian War. From there, we will follow in Washington’s footsteps and hike to Jumonville Glen. In the mid afternoon, we will arrive at the Yough Lake Campground and set-up camp. We will be staying on private camp sites right on the wooded creek Saturday and Sunday night! YES...there is a bathhouse with showers and proper bathrooms. There will be opportunities for swimming and lakeside fun. We will also be cooking all of our dinners on the campfire with worship and small group time each evening!

On Sunday morning, we will head to the lower yough for White Water Rafting! This will be an amazing part of our adventure! There will be guides to help us down the river as we work with the Laurel Highlands Rafting Company. We will also eat lunch, riverside (*There is an opportunity for those who do not wish to raft to go with us on this trip at a discounted rate if enough people wish to do so – please contact Doug for more information). After Rafting, we will head to downtown Ohiopyle where we will have opportunities to swim, enjoy the beach, grab a snack and enjoy some gift shops, or enjoy the scenery and overlook the waterfalls! In Downtown Ohiopyle, there are also natural river water-slides of fasting moving water half-tubes naturally cut into smooth rock allowing you to shoot right through them! In the evening, we will go back to camp for dinner, worship, and small groups.

On Monday morning, we will pack up the vehicles and head to Laurel Caverns for a caving adventure! Included in the cost of the trip is a guided tour through the Laurel Caverns Caves. This is a low impact tour as we walk through much of the cave systems and learn the history of the cave. However, for an additional $10, anyone who desires to have a more extreme, guided spelunking adventure with cave helmets, ropes lowering you in and out of the caves, and crawling through some exciting caverns - may do so by marking this option on the registration form! We will eat lunch at Laurel Caverns, then make our way home. Arrival time at Christ Church on Monday should be around 4pm.

We want to make this amazing trip affordable. The entire trip will cost only $130, a great deal considering just rafting alone costs $60 per person on Sundays. We will provide tents, gear, food, and of course...the amazing adventures!

To register, you must turn in a completed WHITE WATER ADVENTURE WEEKEND REGISTRATION FORM and a non-refundable payment of $130 to Doug by Sunday, May 21. However, our Summer Trips have always sold out in the first three weeks for the last two years. THERE ARE ONLY 30 STUDENT SPOTS AVAILABLE FOR THIS TRIP! Spots will be awarded on a first-come first-serve basis. We strongly encourage you to register for this trip as soon as possible if you want a spot!

Once you complete your registration that will secure your spot on the trip, you will be given a packet of liability forms for the church, the rafting company, and Laurel Caverns. These forms will need to be turned in by their due-date to attend the trip as well. This will expedite the process for us when we take part on each of these activities.

For any questions or concerns, to inquire about multiple-child discounts, a possible non-rafting option for the trip at a discounted rate, or to get more information – please contact Doug Raraigh at draraigh@ccgf.org
