For people in crisis Helen Reddy is a comforting soft, Southern voice on the phone, a willing listener, and very frequently an actual presence at home or in the hospital. She’s a mature Christian woman who even at the age of 7, in her home state of Florida , loved to go to church, although she says she didn’t really get serious about her faith until she was in her forties. How long ago was that? We’re not saying, but she has been married to Walter for 29 years, and between them they have three children and six grandchildren.

Life in our Pastoral Care Department can be quite stressful, but Helen and Walter have some great hobbies to help them cope. Helen says that she likes to “think” about healthy eating. She loves to read for pleasure; she likes to entertain, and find “collectibles, and they love the beach, sunrises and sunsets. In terms of sports, Helen has finally switched from being a Dolphins Fan, to being a Steeler fan.

For Helen every day is brand new and every quiet time is brand new with gladness and joy in expectation of what is to come for the day. She draws on a deep well of faith and experience in order to be on the front lines of our pastoral care as friend and a comforter
