40 Days of Prayer
Monday, July 6
To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of His calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by His power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ (2 Thess. 1:11-12).
Father God, I praise You as Jehovah Uzzi, the LORD My Strength, the God in whom my heart trusts. Thank You for Your promise to strengthen Your Church and the families within it. In Your strength we are able to do the work You have purposed for us. I am sorry for times I have tried to accomplish things in my own strength, and for times I have delayed in doing the work You have called me to do because of my own fears or weaknesses. I humbly ask that You make me worthy of Your calling. I ask that in Your power You fulfill every resolve to do Your will and bring to completion every work of faith within the Church and our family. May Your Name, Jehovah Uzzi, the LORD Our Strength, be evident and glorified in everything we do. In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Amen.
Tuesday, July 7
And so from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God (Col 1:9-10).
Father God, I rejoice in You, El De’ot, the God of All Knowledge. I praise You because You alone have complete and ultimate understanding exhaustively and immediately. I thank You that You desire to fill us with Your knowledge and understanding! I am sorry for how I walk carelessly at times, choosing to dwell in the ignorance and complacency of the misty lowlands; being slow to lift up my hands to You without a longing for You to fill them. I am painfully aware of my lack of desire. Fill me, God of All Knowledge, with a knowledge of Yourself, give me a longing for Your spiritual wisdom and understanding and a thirst to be made more thirsty, so that I may be fruitful and fully pleasing to You, El De’ot. I ask this humbly in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Wednesday, July 8
Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak (Eph 6:17-19).
Father God, today I praise you as Jehovah Jireh, The LORD Who Provides, the LORD Who Will See to It. I thank you for providing for our family during this time, especially in this way: _______. Forgive me for times I question Your provision or look to something else as my source. Forgive me for complacency in my excess and complaining in my lack. Father, I obediently present to You the men, women, and children of Your Underground Church – our persecuted brothers and sisters who live in countries hostile to Your Name. I humbly ask, Jehovah Jireh, that You provide for them: give them boldness as they move among their brothers, give them words to speak whether they are in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, and give Your peace that transcends all understanding to guard the hearts and the minds of their families. In Christ Jesus’ mighty name, I ask these things, LORD, in hope and expectation that You will see to it. Amen.
Thursday, July 9
For this reason, I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God (Eph 3:14-19).
Today I praise You, Elohim Chasdi, God of Lovingkindness, because You are compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in love. Thank You for not harboring anger against me, for not treating me as my sins deserve, and for not repaying me according to my iniquities. I am sorry that I do not always reflect a heart rooted and established in love. I do not love my enemies. I do not do good to those who hate me or bless those who curse me, and I do not pray for those who mistreat me. I humbly ask that this day Your love overflow in my heart, in my family, and in Your Church so that we will know by experience the love of Christ and be ready and equipped to bless, out of the overflow of the fullness of Your Spirit within us, our Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the earth. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
Friday, July 10
And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God (Phil 1:9-11).
I praise You, Jehovah Mekaddishkem. You are the LORD Who Sanctifies us completely, making us pure and blameless for the day of Christ. I thank You for keeping me as Your own set apart work – sanctified to do Your will. I am sorry for taking what You have set apart and using it for my own desires – for not treating as sanctified that which You have sanctified, and for not honoring the life You bought and paid for at such a great cost. Jehovah Mekaddishkem, I humbly ask that You give me the grace to submit to Your sanctification process, so that my love, my knowledge of You, and my ability to discern Your will abound more and more, so that I, my family, and every member of Your church are filled with the fruit of righteousness to Your glory and praise. I ask these things in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
