CCGF Blog
by Eileen Hodgetts
I apologize for my silence over the past couple of weeks; it has been a time for reflection and consideration. The result of all this reflecting and considering has led me to retire from my position as Communications Director at Christ Church. After 12 amazing years, my last day will be October 28, and I will leave with very mixed feelings. Christ Church has given me such great opportunities and ministry challenges and I have no idea how the future can be any better than the past, but I am trusting God, that He has yet another amazing plan. The ten years of directing Encounter Uganda was the fulfillment of a lifetime’s calling and the last two years as Communications Director has been a wonderful challenge. We have some great staff here at Christ church and I am going to miss every single one of them, but most especially Michele Bender (who is actually entering this blog on the website, “you go girl!”) and is the right hand (left hand and both feet) of our communications.
What’s next? Strangely enough I have been invited to talk to the MOPS group on October 27 about “Stages of Life”. How appropriate that I should asked to talk on this subject when I am on the verge of finding out what the next stage is! Some week ago I wrote about the book I was writing in my head. I think the time has come to put it on paper. I have a new computer at home, a determination to complete a first draft at the rate of 4 pages per day, and no idea if anyone will want to read it; but God has made me sufficiently uncomfortable about it that I know He wants me to write it.
I have truly appreciated the opportunity to write this blog every week. I’ve enjoyed your comments, and I hope you have enjoyed mine. Graham and I will still be worshipping at Christ Church. I’m going to enjoy sitting in the Lakeside Café every week. I’m going to enjoy being surprised by the contents of the Sunday 2 Sunday, and the Service Sheet. The rest is an unwritten page …What JOY!
